NOVA Chapter in partnership with the March of Dimes sponsored an excellent
Spring Conference that was enjoyed by all. "Difficult Decisions:
Providing Compassionate Care in a Challenging Environment”, was held March
30, 31 and April 1, 2006. Thanks to all who attended and made this an
unforgettable experience!

The 2007 Virginia Conference will be held in the Fall of 2007 in
Fredericksburg. Please feel free to fill out the survey in the
newsletter and return to one of the conference leaders or
click here to complete the survey on-line.

National and Section Elections will be held this year. Sherri Simons, our
Nominating Chair and her committee will submit an election ballot for VA
Section Chair & Secretary –Treasurer for 2007- 2009.
The nominations for the Virginia Section have received some inquiries
regarding additional candidates to the upcoming ballot for the 2007-2009
election. We have consulted with AWHONN Headquarters and have been
given permission to add additional candidates to the ballot for Section
Chair and Section Secretary/Treasurer. If you or anyone you know would
like to run for an office please contact Sherri Simons by Friday April 28,
2006. All completed information, must be submitted by May 1, 2006.

AWHONN SECTION AWARDS
Joan Corder-Mabe, RNC, MS, WHNP and the Division of Women's and Infant's
Health - Virginia Department of Health - Commonwealth of Virginia
Ms. Corder-Mabe, the Virginia Department of Health and the Perinatal Task
Force (comprised of many recognized health care professionals) were recognized for their contribution to
Women’s Health Care by developing the Perinatal Depression Website. (http://www.perinataldepression.org.)
Debbie Vest, RN, BSN
Ms. Vest was recognized as the 2006 Virginia AWHONN Leader of the Year. Debbie serves
as the Blue Ridge Chapter Leader. She has continued to make their Chapter
“shine” with an excellent schedule of activities and enthusiasm. Thank you

We are looking for someone who will gather information and articles of
interest and work with our webmaster and keep our membership up to date.
Check out the National website for leadership, educational and political
information. There is information for your practice and also new
career opportunities. Thank you for your commitment and support
promoting the health of women and newborns.
